I’m happy to announce my new production company, Imagineers Film.
Starting from scratch again is definitely very humbling.
I’m very thankful for the support from a few of our clients who were very eager to work with us, and supporting us especially in our infancy stage. And also with the likes of CommonGround.work for giving us the space to kick start our business.
Sharing the rationale behind the name Imagineers Film -
Yes, I am a big fan of Walt Disney, in fact he’s one of the film heroes I look up to. They call what they do at their theme parks - Imagineering.
But why does that relate to me?
Imagination + Engineering.
Let's start with Engineering. What got me to relate to this term is that I believe that Creativity or Filmmaking isn't just 'Arts', but also there's Science & Maths behind it. There must be some sort of 'calculation' & 'logic' behind problem solving in filmmaking, from its ideation process to the execution of production.
The term Engineer derives from the Latin word, ingenium - which means, cleverness and also, ingeniare - which means, to contrive or devise.
Engineers in general are problem solvers, which is what I feel the DNA of this company should be, especially when it comes to providing a solution for clients through filmmaking. Filmmaking should be more than just creativity.
As for the imagination part - One of the filmmakers I admire, is Georges Melies. Who is notably one of the first ever filmmaker. His story, Trip To The Moon is one of the most notable scenes in film history. He is the epitome of what Imagineering is all about. So maybe we could play with the idea of using scenes from Trip To The Moon, where they launch a rocket to the moon, and the rocket lands on the 'eye' of the Moon.
So Rocket Science + Engineering + Imagination + Filmmaking = Imagineers Film
